Nantucket Community School

A public-private partnership created in the summer of 2009 between Nantucket Community School and ReMain Nantucket brought school via adult education classes back to town for the first time in many years.

Nantucket Community School (NCS) is offering computer education, a daytime computer lab, foreign languages and other classes and lectures during the evening and weekends at ReMain's Greenhound Building at 10 Washington Street during the fall and winter school year.

"In the fall of 2009 ReMain Nantucket partnered with the Nantucket Community School," said NCS Director Pauline Proch in May, "and we were able to bring school back downtown to the heart of Nantucket. Over the course of last year, we saw well over 1000 people come through our doors and take part in our programs."

ReMain provides the space and computers for the classes. NCS is responsible for programming classes, managing instruction and administering all programs. The 2011-2012 school year will mark the third year of working together to bring adult education to the downtown.
